LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

 

John C. Sanders Scholarship

The applicants for this scholarship must be in the upper 10% of their class or may be a member of the National Honor Society and must have pursued a well-rounded academic program. Students must also have participated in extra curricular activities at Danville High School as well as participated in or rendered some direct or indirect community service. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 15.

 

Laura Lee Fellowship House Scholarship

The Laura Lee Fellowship Scholarships were established to aid students in continuing their education. Seniors should rank in the upper half of their class, demonstrate financial need, participate in extra-curricular activities, participate in service and church activities, and plan to enroll in an accredited college or university. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 15, 2014.

 

Gary C. & Phyllis J. Rogers Fellowship

Phyllis and Gary Rogers are honorable and respected members of the community, as well as outstanding educators. The Gary C. and Phyllis J. Rogers Fellowship award was established to aid students in continuing their education. Seniors should be in the upper third of their graduating class OR have a 3.0 GPA, be involved in extracurricular activities, community service, demonstrate financial need, and plan to enroll in an accredited college or university. Mary Alice Robinson Buchanan Scholarship

Mrs. Mary Alice Robinson Buchanan was a driving force in the lives of her children and grandchildren, always pushing them to pursue their dreams and to serve mankind. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage yourng people to pursue a higher education in the area of public service, whether that be education, social work, community advocacy, the ministry, or other. Richard Roberts Scholarship

The Richard Roberts Scholarship was established in 2005 to aid students in continuing their education in the area of music. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 2, 2014.

 

Danville High School Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship is being donated by a former DHS students (Class of 1976), in honor of the many teachers she was lucky to have who prepared her, not only for the rigors of college, but for life and the big world beyond the city limits of Danville. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has excelled academically. Applicant must have at least a 3.3 GPA, plan to attend a 4-year university in the state of Illinois, be a good citizen with model behavior, and participated in extracurricular activities. Jennifer Allen Memorial Scholarship (DAEOP Scholarship)

This scholarship is designed to assist a Danville High School graduating senior in business education. The Danville Asociation of Educational Office Professionals (DAEOP) will award one scholarship. If the recipient meets the IAEOP scholarship criteria, they may be eligible for a scholarship given by the Illinois Association of Educational Office Professionals. Applicants must be a graduating DHS senior and plan to continue his/her educaiton in an office-related business program. Applicants must have taken two or more year-long business courses or be enrolle din college prep courses. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 21, 2014.

 

Presence United Samaritans Medica Center Health Care Scholarship

Presence United Samaritans Medical Center will provide a scholarship to support an individual interesetd in a career in health care. The student should have a vigorous science background, have a history of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership skills and a strong desire to serve those in need. Sigma Nu Fraternity Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship at the University of Illinois

The Sigma Nu Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship consists of a one-time direct payment to one University of Illinois Freshman male student who enters the University in Urbana-Champaing in Fall 2014. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA or higher. The committee is seeking men who are intellectually, morally, and physically capable of leadership in any field. East Central Illinois Community Action Agency Scholarship

East Central Illinois Community Action Agency is offering scholarships to income eligible individuals who reside in Ford, Iroquois, or Vermilion County and are furthering their education by enrolling in courses at an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school within the state of Illinois. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 11, 2014.

 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Scholarship

The Epsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., will provide a limited number of scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year. Scholarships are designated for African-American, female students residing in Champaign or Vermilion County. Applicants must demonstrate community involvement and a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. Vermilion County Bar Association Scholarships

The Vermilion County Bar Association will be awarding two scholarships to Vermilion County students. Applicants must have earned a 3.0 GPA, submit a letter of recommendation, and submit a one-page statement with requested information. Please see your counselor for more infomation. Deadline is April 1, 2014.

 

Lester Shick Memorial Scholarship

Education Personnel Federal Credit Union is owned entirely by our members and is operated by and for them exclusively. EPFCU membership represents employees (and their relatives) of public, private and parochial schools in Vermilion County, Illinois. Scholarships will be awarded to qualified graduating high school seniors. Only members and their sons and daughters will be considered. Applicants must be in the upper half of their class and compose an essay. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 1, 2014.

 

Christie Foundation Health Profession Scholarship

The Christie Foundation's Rapp Health Profession Sholarship Program assists in funding area students, particularly those interested in serving the health care needs of East Central Illinois. Applicants must be enrolled or entering an approved health care profession program, have at least a 3.0 GPA and an ACT score of at least 20. Applicants must also have demonstrated work and/or volunteer experience in the health professions. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is March 31, 2014.

 

Margaret Ward Scholarship

Crosspoint Human Services is announcing its fifth annual Margaret Ward Scholarship award to be given to a Vermilion County high school senior. This scholarsip is to honor Mrs. Margaret Ward, a former Danville District #118 educator and lifetime board member of Crosspoint Human Services. This essay is inspired by a multi-ribbon design, each ribbon representing a facet of care given to the community by Crosspoint Human Services. Carle Auxiliary Scholarship

This scholarship is for students accepted into, or currently enrolled, in an accredited/certified healthcare professional curriculum. Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students from numerous Central Illinois counties. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 1, 2014.

 

Lakeview College of Nursing Next Generation of Caring Scholarship

This scholarship is for students planning to attend the Lakeview College of Nursing and get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. Applicants must rank in the top half of their class and be capable of meeting the Lakeview College of Nursing Admission Criteria (See www.lakeviewcol.edu/admission-policies for further information). AMBUCS Scholarship (Lori Lyons Special Education Scholarship)

The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS will offer two scholarships to graduating seniors who are pursuing a degree in the field of Special Education. These scholarships will be renewable for four years. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is March 31, 2014.

 

Loretta Randle Scholarship

The Randle family is offering a scholarship in honor of their late mother, Mrs. Loretta G. Randle, to a DHS senior who plans to attend Danville Area Community College. Students must be in need of financial assistance and have demonstrated through hard work and academic performance the desire to continue their education. Please see your counselor for an application. Reuben/Florida Reed Scholarship

This scholarship is to honor the memory of Reuben and Florida Reed, whom dedicated their lives to their family of 14 children, their church and their community. These two people never had the chance to pursue a higher education, but encouraged their children to reach their fullest potential. This scholarship will be given to a graduating, African-American senior with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is March 31, 2014.

 

Cassandra and Jerry Reed Scholarship

This scholarship is given because Cassandra and Jerry Reed believe that the pursuit of higher education opens doors toward success. Applicants must be a graduating senior with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is March 31, 2014.

 

The Nurse 'Nessa Memorial Scholarship

The Nurse 'Nessa Memorial Scholarship was established to aid a student who is pursuing a degree in the field of nursing. The scholarship honors the late Vanessa Hutcherson who served as a nurse in the Danville community for 30 years; she served at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Provena Hospital, and as a home care nurse. Mrs. Hutcherson had a giving spirit, always wanted to help others, and truly valued education. Apploicants should rank in the upper half of their class, be good citizens, have participated in extra curricular activities, and intend to enroll in an accredited college or university in the field of nursing. Dr. David L. Fields Scholarship

The Dr. David L. Fields Scholarship was established to aid students to continue their education. Seniors should rank in the upper half of their class, be a good citizen, have participated in extracurricular activities and intend to enroll in an accredited college or university in the field of teacher education. Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation Scholarship

This application is for students seeking an undergraduate degree and applicants should be an accepted student at an accredited institution of higher learning. Applicants must be residents of Illinois, submit verificaton of college enrollment or letter of acceptance, and write a personal statement. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 30, 2014.

 

Adam D. Wagner Memorial Scholarship

The Adam D. Wagner Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a senior who was in soccer or who is pursuing a major in Criminal Justice. The five criteria used to select the scholarship recipients are: academic standing (above average grades), the essay, letters of recommendation, school activities, and sportsmanship. Township Officials of Illinois Scholarship

Each year since 1989, the Township Officials of Illinois Scholarship Fund has awarded funds to graduating high school seniors to continue their education at Illinois colleges/universities. To be eligible, applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, be a US Citizen and resident of Illinois, have a history of extracurricular activities that demonstrates a willingness to accept leadership responsibilities, and submit an essay. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is March 1, 2014.

 

The Sarah A. Carey Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior upon proof of enrollment at an accredited college or university. The selection will be made based on the following: a short essay, scholastic ability, leadership qualities, and school and community involvement. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is May 2, 2014.

 

Cameron M. Cunningham Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship fund was established to aid students to continue their education in the medical field. Seniors should rank in the upper half of their class, be a good citizen, have participated in extracurricular activities and intend to enroll in an accredited college or university in which financial assistance is needed. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is March 31, 2014.

 

The Chorale Scholarship

This competition is open to any Central Illinois area high school senior who will graduate in the spring of 2014 and will enroll in a college or university in the fall of 2014 to continue musical studies. A preliminary audition DVD or CD and an application must be submitted by Friday, March 14, 2014. Please see your counselor for an application.

 

Red Mask Players, Inc./Jean Lewis Scholarship

The Red Mask Players, Inc. will be presenting the Jean Lewis Scholarship award this year to a local high school or college student who has expressed an interest in the pursuit of the performing arts. We encourage applications from theater majors, and those who will pursue a field of study directly related to the thater. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a continuing interest in theater by their past, or present, participation in local theater. Performing artists applying will be asked to audition before the committee on April 9 or 16. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is March 21, 2014.

 

Debbie Wright Memorial Fund Award

This scholarship was established to aid a student who is pursuing a bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois in a medical related field. The recipient must demonstrate an excitement for learning and show financial need. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 4, 2014.

 

Joe D. Ward Memorial Scholarship

The Joe D. Ward Memorial Scholarship will be given to a DHS senior who is in the upper half of the class, a good citizen, participant in extracurricular activities, and one who intends to enroll in an accredited college or university in the field of education. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 4, 2014.

 

Helen Conover Memorial Scholarship

The Helen Conover Memorial Scholarship was established to aid seniors in continuing their education. Applicants should have at least a B average, currently taking a foreign language in at least the sixth semester, be good citizens, have participated in extracurricular activities, and intend to enroll in an accredited college or university. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 4, 2014.

 

The Robert and Suzanne (Seybold) Zimmerman Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is inteded for a student entering a career in the Applied or Practical Arts (i.e. carpentry, woodworking, drafting, machinist, beautician, secretary, medical assistant, music, arts, etc.). Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 4, 2014.

 

Sons of Confederate Veterans Illinois Society, Military Order of Stars & Bars

The SCV/MOS&B is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior, male or female, who resides in Illinois and will be enrolling in the fall at a community college, college, or university. Student must be a descendant of a male who served honorably in the Army, Navy, judicial, executive, or civil service of the Confederate States of America. Lineal or collateral family lines must be documented genealogically with a descendency chart. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is March 15, 2014.

 

Dick Van Dyke Scholarship

The Dick Van Dyke Scholarship is established to aid students in continuing their education. Applicants should rank in the upper half of their class, be good citizens, have participated in extracurricular activities especially in the performing arts (band, orchestra, chorus, show choir, dance or drama), and intend to enroll in an accredited college or university. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 4, 2014.

 

John Stevenson Athletic/Academic Scholarship

John Stevenson was an outstanding athlete and student at Danville High School who graduated with the Class of 1955. John was well liked and admired by his classmates and was considered a class leader. He was a member of the Honor Society and was on the Honor Roll every semester. Mr. Stevenson was also awarded nine athletic letters in baseball, basketball, and cross country. Applicants must have played a Varsity sport for at least two years, must have at least a B average, no discipline problems (in school or the community), and participated in other non-academic school supported activities. Lillian E. Glover Scholarship (Illinois PTA Scholarship)

Illinois PTA Scholarship are one-year, non-renewable awards given to students who are enrolling ina college or university in the field of education or education-related degree program. Applicants must be graduating from an Illinois public high school, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be enrolling in a college or university in an education related degree program. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is February 14, 2014.

 

Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association Educational Foundation Scholarship

Among the actvities of the Foundation is the awarding of academic scholarships each year to selected students to pursue industry-related course work at colleges and universities. These scholarships will assist and encourage qualified students to further or continue their interest in selecting the lumber and building materials field as a career. Any student who is enrolled full time in a certificate or degree program in an accredited trade school, 2-year junior college or 4-year college or university, and who is a resident of Illinois is eligible to apply for a scholarship. Wayne and Marjorie Denman Scholarship

The Wayne Denman Memorial Scholarship was established to aid students in continuing their education. Applicants should rank in the upper half of their class, be good citizens, have participated in extracurricular activities, and intend to enroll in an accredited college or university in the field of teacher education. Nanettte Mellen Scholarship

The Nanette Mellen Scholarship will be awarded to a female DHS 2014 graduating senior who has demonstrated leadership in her schoolwork and extra curricular involvement. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 4, 2014.

 

Illinois Chemical Education Foundation Scholarship

The Chemical Industry Council of Illinois, through the Illinois Chemical Education Foundation (ICEF) presents a number of scholarships each year to top high school senior science students. The ICEF's objective is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have exemplified outstanding achievement in academics, extracurricular/employment activities and community involvement. Please see your counselor for an informational sheet. Deadline is February 21, 2014.

 

Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Scholarships

Illinois Grand Lodge and Scottish Rite Masons provide scholarships to help individuals become better through their pursuit of knowledge. The organization has two scholarships open to the public: Health Career Fields and Sherwood and Evelyn Kresin. Other scholarships require a masonic relationship: Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Illinois, Robert B. Perkins, Louis L. Williams, and the Abbott Scholarship. Scholarship applications may be downloaded at www.aasrdanville.org. Deadline is April 1, 2014.

 

McDonald's Scholarship

This scholarship is for anyone who is currently employed at one of the five Vermilion County McDonald's and has been working for at least six months. You must have a minimum performance rating of good, be a hard worker, and show leadership in the workplace. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 4, 2014.

 

Red Mask Players, Inc. Scholarship

Please see your counselor for an application. You must include 2 letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with your experience and interest in theater and drama. Deadline is March 21, 2014.

 

Christian Leadership Award

This scholarship is awarded by the Beta Sigma Psi National Lutheran Fraternity. Their membership is made up of Lutherans from congregations across the US, dedicated to Spiritual Growth, Scholastic Achievement, and Social Responsibility. This $1500 scholarship will be given to a student attending the University of Illinois, Indiana University, or Purdue University in the Fall of 2014. Applicants should be male and confirmed members of a Lutheran congregation. There is no obligation to join Beta Sigma Psi or be related to one of its members in order to be considered. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is February 15, 2014.

 

Martin Luther Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the Beta Sigma Psi National Lutheran Fraternity. Their membership is made up of Lutherans from congregations across the US, dedicated to Spiritual Growth, Scholastic Achievement, and Social Responsibility. This $2000 scholarship is open to young men attending their first year at any accredited 4-year college or university. Applicants must be confirmed members of a Lutheran congregation. There is no obligation to join Beta Sigma Psi or be related to one of its members in order to be considered. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is February 15, 2014.

 

Boehm Visual Arts Scholarship

The Boehm Visual Arts Scholarship was established to aid students who will actively pursue a college/university major in the Visual Arts. A student must declare a major in either drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, art education, architecture, graphic design, industrial design, fashion design, or computer animation. Eligibility must include 2 years of high school Art and a minimum of 2 years of other visual arts courses. Applicants must rank in the upper one-third of their class. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 4, 2014.

 

Landmark Credit Union Scholarship (Kimberly Hagan Memorial Scholarship)

This scholarship was created in memoriam of Kimberly M Hagan who was an employee of the credit union. To be eligible, you must be a member of Landmark Credit Union, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, no criminal record, and be a US citizen. Please see your counselor for an application. Deadline is April 1, 2014.

 

M2 PROM Scholarship

Registration for this $500 scholarship is between December 26, 2013 and May 3, 2014. Seniors just need to come into M2, The Place for Prom and Pageant, in Urbana, IL and fill out a simple registration form. For more information, call M2 PROM at 217-337-7766.

 

Elks Scholarships

Any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2011, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2011, is eligible to apply. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2014. Great-grandchildren are not eligible. The Illinois Odd-Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Program

The Indipendent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Illinois is pleased to announce the continuance of their scholarship program. Applicants need not be affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, but must be a resident of Illinois and a citizen of the US.
