- Student performance data is reviewed.
- Sample textbooks/resources are collected and previewed.
- Pilot materials are selected.
- Sub-committees begin the curriculum writing process for each
grade level/course.

- Teachers pilot textbooks/resources.
- If necessary, local materials are developed.
- Appropriate instructional strategies are identified.
- Student outcomes are aligned with The Illinois Learning Standards
and Illinois Assessment Framework.
- Sub-committees complete curriculum writing and develop student
assessments.
- Budgets are developed for staff development and textbook/resource
purchases.
- Textbook/resource adoption proposals are prepared.
- The proposed curriculum and textbook adoption proposal are
presented to the Board of Education.

| Years 4/5: Implement Curriculum |
- Textbooks/resources are distributed to teachers.
- Teachers implement new curriculum; the K-12 Committee assists
teachers with implementation.
- A staff development calendar is created for implementation.
- All teachers involved in discipline participate in the designed
staff development.
- Buildings develop implementation plans aligned to School Improvement
Plans.
- Teachers are surveyed to determine additional goals.
- Summer curriculum work is planned as appropriate.
